Santa Claus, Indiana is home to a population of just over 2,800 people. Located about one-hour (56 miles) from Evansville, Indiana, this Indiana town is also home of the world’s first theme park! (That’s another post for another day)

Visit Santa Claus, Indiana
If you find yourself in Santa Claus, Indiana, be sure to visit the Santa Claus Museum & Village. Here, visitors can enjoy seeing the breathtaking 22-Foot Santa Statue. This historic feature was originally dedicated in 1935. The concrete statue still stands tall today and was restored in 2011. Visitors are encouraged to take photos, visit the 12-foot tall mural, and even wish in a replicated 1935 wishing well.

Best Time to Visit Santa Claus, Indiana
For the full ‘America’s Hometown Christmas’ experience be sure to visit in November to December. Festivities include parades, light displays, town decorations, and visiting the Santa Claus Museum and Village in full holiday mode!
Other special events include a 3-weekend Santa Claus Christmas Celebration, Christmas light display at Rudolph Lake, tree lighting ceremony, Christmas market, special story times, live reindeer, writing letters to Santa, and of course photos with Santa Claus too! The Spencer County Visitors Bureau lists details on all of the events.
Christmas Parade in Santa Claus, Indiana
The Christmas Parade is Free for all to attend and will take place on December 13, 2025 at 1:00 pm. The parade will start at Holiday World and continue down Highway 245 past Lake Rudolph and the St. Nicholas Church. Turning left at the Santa Claus Fire Department onto Patricia Koch Drive and then up Highway 162 ending at the Legends Lot.

Santa’s Candy Castle
Another iconic site to visit is Santa’s Candy Castle. This was the very first town attraction. It opened in 1935. Today, it still stands tall with beautiful red brick, a turret, tower, and whimsical castle design.
The Santa’s Candy Castle features a wide assortment of confections and unique treats! Have you ever heard of Frozen Hot Chocolate? Here you can give it a try! Also, explore an assortment of handmade goodies; toffee, turtles, peanut brittle, salt water taffy, peanut butter fudge, and peppermint bark. They also carry nostalgic candy.

The Lifetime movie “Snowed-Inn Christmas” was filmed in Santa Claus Indiana!
Many streets and communities have holiday themed names. Visit places like; Christmas Lake Village, Evergreen Plaza, Sleigh Bell Drive, Candy Cane Lane, Fireside Drive, and Silver Bell Terrace.
Santa Claus, Indiana is also home to a 6-screen drive-in movie theater, the Holiday Drive-In.

Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari Theme Park was originally named, Santa Claus Land. It was first opened in 1946. Santa Claus Land was the World’s First Theme Park! It wasn’t until 1955 that the first Disney park opened as the 2nd Theme Park. Knotts Berry Farm opened in the 1920’s but it was not recognized as a Theme Park until the mid 1950s.
